Client needs often suffer because of agency power struggles. This creates expensive inertia. We believe pace and efficiency doesn’t need to compromise creativity.
We’re about business growth through creativity, not ego massaging through awards. We create the right work for the right audience in the right channel.
Media budgets should be built transparently. We plan against the right audience and the right creative, not the right trading deal.
The media landscape is complicated enough without having multiple opinions from multiple partners, jostling to be heard. By bringing them back together, we offer value, not confusion, from media fragmentation.
We exist to offer seamless integration between brand building creative and multi-channel communications planning.
All under one roof
This delivers better work that is produced cost-effectively and distributed in the right place.
We call it...
Creative driving media
Wax/On was launched in early 2018 by Mark, Ben, Paul and Matthew, who met a few years earlier whilst working at the creative agency, Karmarama.
After realising their shared frustration at the disconnection between ideas being created and where they’re seen, they started having ideas of their own.
Looking at how agencies used to make ads along with planning and buying the media, they set about reuniting creative and media as a single offer for the modern world.
By joining forces with independent media network MC&C, they created Wax/On to deliver brand building strategy and creative with smart, results driven distribution.
Creative and Media Back Together.
Paul Jacobs
Managing Partner
Paul oversees the day-to-day running of Wax/On. Previously, he was Business Lead at Karmarama working with brands such as BT and Porsche and more recently a Director at Edelman, where he led the set-up of their creative services, working on global projects for Microsoft, Asics and Nestle. He also makes sure we all get enough sleep.
Mark Runacus
Planning Partner
Wax/On’s Planning Partner, Mark was joint CSO of and co-owner of Karmarama. The team agree he’s that rare mix of data literate strategist and creative account planner. He still thinks he’s a DJ. Outside work he leads advertising’s LGBT+ network and is the nonexecutive Chair of the DMA (UK) Group.
Ben Hooper
Creative Partner
Ben has worked on everything from advertising and PR to TV shows and kids story books. He was Head of Content at Karmarama, working on Air New Zealand, Honda, DFS and Adams Foods. At Edelman, he set up and ran the UK content department working on global campaigns for GSK, Heineken and Asics. He also loves telling people about his time as a client at Red Bull but we’re all pretty bored with those stories.
Matthew Brown
Partner
Holding roles of COO and Managing Director as a co-owner of Karmarama, Matthew is one our founding partners, providing invaluable commercial and operational rigour to the team. He’s basically the work Dad.
If you’re looking for a partner to help you grow your business by uniting creative and media, get in touch.
